marvel-ultimate-alliance-2-nds
Marvel - Ultimate Alliance 2 - for NDS

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 takes one of the biggest Marvel storylines and turns it into a team based action game you can carry in a pocket. Developed by N Space and published by Activision in 2009 for the Nintendo DS, it follows the Superhuman Registration Act as it becomes law, forcing Super Heroes to register as weapons of mass destruction and work as licensed government agents. Iron Man leads the side in favour, Captain America spearheads the stand against it, and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 asks you to choose.

You assemble a squad of heroes and fight through missions together, switching between them as the situation changes. The side you pick shapes the game: the enemies you battle and the missions you take on both depend on that choice, which gives the campaign a strong reason to be played more than once. Fusion attacks let two heroes combine their powers into a single devastating move, and the role playing side, with experience, upgrades and a growing roster, keeps a run worth continuing between sessions.

The appeal is still the roster and the premise. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 lets you put together team ups that no single comic would hand you, then sets heroes against each other, and the Civil War framing gives the fighting some real weight. It is approachable enough for short bursts on a handheld and deep enough to reward building a favourite squad. For collectors, Marvel games on the Nintendo DS are an interesting corner of the library, and this is one of the more ambitious of them, a full superhero team adventure on a small screen.

Genre: Action RPG

Players: 1

Region: NTSC

Release Year: 2009

Developer: N-Space

Cartridge Only: No Box or Manual
Please note that this listing is for the game cartridge only.
