professor-layton-and-the-curious-village-nds
Professor Layton and the Curious Village - for NDS

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is the game that began one of the most charming series on Nintendo DS, developed by Level-5 and published by Nintendo in 2007. In the village of St. Mystere the townsfolk speak to each other in riddles, lock their doors with sliding puzzles and hide their secrets inside brainteasers. When the wealthy Baron Augustus Reinhold passes away, his will reveals a treasure hidden somewhere in the village, and his family calls in the renowned puzzle expert Professor Layton and his apprentice, Luke, to find it.

Soon after the pair arrive, the suspicious death of another member of the Reinhold family leaves them holding two mysteries at once. You tackle more than 130 puzzles as you work through the village, ranging from mazes and riddles to logic problems and sliding puzzles, with hint coins to spend when an answer refuses to come. Touch screen controls make scribbling, sliding and tapping feel natural for players of any skill level, and the whole thing is held together by a story, a cast of odd villagers and animated scenes that were a genuine treat on the DS.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is still beloved because it respects both your time and your mind: every puzzle is a small, self contained pleasure, and the mystery of St. Mystere keeps a thread running through all of them. It is a fine game to share, since anyone watching will want a turn at the hard ones. For collectors it is a cornerstone of the DS library, the first chapter of a series that proved a puzzle game could carry a story worth finishing. Professor Layton and the Curious Village belongs on any shelf of DS classics.

Genre: Puzzle Adventure

Players: 1

Region: NTSC

Release Year: 2007

Developer: Level-5

Cartridge Only: No Box or Manual
Please note that this listing is for the game cartridge only.
