Digimon World Dusk is a monster taming role playing game developed by BEC and published by Namco Bandai Games for the Nintendo DS in 2007. You take control of a Tamer from the elite Night Crow team of Dark Moon district. When a huge earthquake carrying unknown life energy strikes the Digital World, the whole town is left heavily damaged, and rumors place the blame on the Light Fang team. Finding out what really caused the incident and putting the city back together is your work. Digimon World Dusk arrived alongside Digimon World Dawn, telling the same crisis from the other side.

Over four hundred Digimon across eight different species are yours to collect, tame, train and evolve, with certain rare ones reachable only by connecting wirelessly with someone who owns the other version. Combat runs in turns, three against five, and where you position your Digimon counts as much as what they can hit for. Between fights, the Digifarm is home: raise and evolve your team there, talk with them, and fit Farm Goods that teach new abilities and boost stats even while you are out adventuring. The world map remembers every dungeon you have entered, its items and its residents.

Digimon World Dusk holds up because it treats collecting as a beginning rather than an ending. Recruiting, raising and rebuilding a roster into something that survives the late battles is a project you can live in for weeks, and the twin storylines give the whole thing some real weight. Longtime fans come back for the sheer size of the Digimon list, and the version differences still give two friends a reason to trade. For collectors, Digimon World Dusk belongs beside Digimon World Dawn, since the pair were made to talk to each other.
