Disney Princess - Magical Jewels - for NDS

Disney Princess: Magical Jewels is an adventure game developed by 1st Playable Productions and published by Disney Interactive Studios for the Nintendo DS in 2007, made with young players in mind. It gathers some well loved Disney Princesses, including Cinderella, Belle, Aurora and Snow White, for a fun filled quest to recover the magical jewels and restore the magical power of the kingdom. Ariel and Jasmine turn up too, in minigames of their own. Disney Princess: Magical Jewels is gentle by design, built to be welcoming rather than demanding, which is much of its appeal.

You choose a princess and travel through a series of enchanted levels, gathering the missing jewels as you go and watching the kingdom's magic return piece by piece. Golden princess dresses wait to be unlocked along the way, which gives younger players a steady reason to keep exploring and a reward they can see. Alongside the main adventure there are minigames, and the wireless multiplayer support means two players can take them on together with a second system. Everything in Disney Princess: Magical Jewels is paced and signposted for small hands and short attention spans.

Disney Princess: Magical Jewels is remembered fondly by people who played it very young, and it is still a kind first game for a child starting out on a Nintendo DS: short levels, clear goals, familiar faces. For collectors, it is a solid piece of the Disney catalogue on the system, and licensed princess titles are exactly the sort of thing that quietly disappears from shelves over the years. If you are filling out a Disney DS collection, Disney Princess: Magical Jewels is worth a place in it.
