Invader is a shooter for the Game Boy Advance, developed by Lost Boys Games and published by Xicat Interactive in 2002. The setup is pure science fiction: the human solar system of Alpha Nerconis is under attack by an alien swarm bent on total domination, a force that looks unstoppable until you turn up. Invader puts you at the controls of either a Rygotian or an Ikaben ship and sends you straight into the fight for freedom, with the survival of the solar system resting on how long you can hold the line.

This is fast, explosive space combat, the sort of shooter that rewards quick reading of the screen and steady nerves rather than careful planning. You fly, you weave, you return fire, and the swarm keeps coming. The choice between the two ships gives you a reason to come back and take on the invasion from the other cockpit. Invader is a single player game, built for short bursts, which makes it a natural fit for a handheld: pick it up, push back the swarm for a while, then set it down again.

Invader is one of the lesser known names in the Game Boy Advance library, and for collectors that is much of the appeal.
