Jeopardy! Deluxe Edition - for Genesis

Jeopardy! Deluxe Edition is GameTek's fuller take on the quiz show for the Sega Genesis, developed by Park Place Productions and released in 1993. Alex Trebek hosts again, and the Deluxe Edition puts you on stage with digitized photography of the television studio, of the contestants and of Alex himself, plus his digitized voice and that familiar theme music. The pitch is hard to resist: so you think you are good enough to be on Jeopardy!? This is the version that hands you a podium and lets you find out.

The format is the one everyone knows. Choose a category and an amount, wait for the clue, then ring in fast enough with the right response and keep building your total all the way to Final Jeopardy! Jeopardy! Deluxe Edition supports up to three players, so you can stand alone against computer generated opponents or line up beside two friends at the podiums. With over 3,500 questions and answers drawn from television's longest running game show, there is enough material here for long evenings and plenty of return visits.

Deluxe Edition is the version Genesis quiz fans tend to reach for, because the presentation is richer and the multiplayer turns it into a genuine party game. It is quick to explain, impossible for one person to monopolise and it keeps newcomers at the table, which is a rare quality on sixteen bit hardware. Collectors like Jeopardy! Deluxe Edition for those same reasons, and because it sits in an interesting pocket of Genesis history, when game shows were licensed with care and GameTek was turning them into cartridges. A natural companion piece to the standard Jeopardy! release.
