Scooby-Doo! Who's Watching Who? - for NDS

Scooby-Doo! Who's Watching Who? is an action adventure for the Nintendo DS, developed by Human Soft and published by THQ in 2006. Its premise is a clever one. Mystery Inc. are now the stars of a hit reality TV show about ghost hunting, and a rival team called GSI, the Ghost Scene Investigators, have started picking at their unscientific methods of ghost detection. The challenge is simple and the comedy writes itself: whoever debunks the most ghosts wins. Scooby-Doo! Who's Watching Who? sends Scooby, Shaggy and the gang cross country to settle the argument.

This is a single player adventure built around visiting spooky locations and unmasking classic ghosts. You explore each haunt, gather what you need, dodge whatever is floating after you and work toward the moment the sheet comes off. The short, distinct locations suit a handheld well, since you can pick up a case, see it through and put the system down again. The old fashioned methods of Mystery Inc. are the heart of it all, and the game has a lot of fun asking whether they are still up to the job.

Players still enjoy Scooby-Doo! Who's Watching Who? because the reality show setup gives the series something to push against, and because it keeps the tone light rather than straining to be frightening. It is a comfortable, good natured game for younger players and for anyone with a soft spot for the Hanna Barbera formula. As a collectible it sits in the long run of THQ licensed Nintendo DS titles that collectors have come to appreciate, and it rounds out a Scooby-Doo shelf nicely alongside the later entries. A friendly one to keep on display.
