Seicross is a fast scrolling shooter for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Nihon Bussan and published by FCI in 1986. It started out as an arcade game, and the home version keeps that arcade shape: short, sharp and relentless, with a high score to chase and no time to think twice. You ride a super space bike into the enemy city to rescue the captured people of Petras, and Seicross barely lets you slow down from the first screen onward.
The screen scrolls constantly and the hazards arrive in layers: danger zones, suicide bikers, explosions and booby traps, all of them in your path at speed. Your laser clears what it can, but the real pressure comes from your Energy Pack, which keeps draining as you ride, so collecting replacements is what keeps the bike moving and the laser strong. That one rule turns Seicross into a game of lines and timing rather than pure shooting: you are always deciding whether a pickup is worth the detour. Waiting for you is the Dinosaur Tank, aimed straight at you, and two players can take it on by turns.
Seicross is loved for its purity. There is nothing between you and the run: no menus, no story to sit through, just speed, a laser and an energy gauge counting down. That kind of design has aged better than most, and it makes the game an easy one to pick up for ten minutes. For collectors, Seicross belongs to the first wave of NES releases, an arcade design from Nihon Bussan brought home by FCI, and it is a good representative of the years when a cartridge could be built around one strong idea and nothing else.
