Star Wars - Lethal Alliance - for NDS

Star Wars: Lethal Alliance is an action adventure for the Nintendo DS, developed and published by Ubisoft in 2006. It was the first original Star Wars game built exclusively for handhelds, and it tells a story from the edges of events everyone knows: Rianna, a fighter with elite weaponry and acrobatic skills, and Zeeo, her droid partner with multifunctional defensive and slicing support, are out to steal the plans for the Death Star. Star Wars: Lethal Alliance stands out for making the two work as a genuine team rather than giving you a hero and a bystander.

Missions run from the chaos of Coruscant to the dusty, dangerous alleys of Mos Eisley, and the pair need each other to finish them. Zeeo sets up holographic disguises to fool Imperial guards and handles the slicing, while Rianna takes care of the fighting, the climbing and the death defying flying escapes. There are gun turrets to commandeer and carnivorous beasts to survive. The journey takes in the Death Star and Tatooine along with less familiar places such as Despayre, Danuta and Alderaan, and the cast includes Boba Fett, Kyle Katarn, Princess Leia Organa and Darth Vader, with Imperial officers, Rodians, Quarren and stormtroopers filling out the ranks. Multiplayer modes for up to four players round out the package.

Players keep a real fondness for Star Wars: Lethal Alliance because it is a proper Star Wars adventure designed for a small screen, with a new lead and a droid who is actually useful. For collectors it is one of the more interesting Star Wars entries on the Nintendo DS, both for being built for handhelds from the start and for being Ubisoft's turn with the licence. Easy to recommend to anyone who collects Star Wars games or who likes an action adventure that keeps its missions tight.
